This Monday, August 21st, the U.S. will be witnessing its first total solar eclipse in 38 years and we can expect it to be quite a show!
In California, at approximaltey 10:15 am PST, you will observe the moon passing in between the sun and the earth, causing obstruction of our view of the sun.
With the way the world is moving today, the eclipse brings a very special opportunity for connection, reverence, and self-reflection.
To honor this unique time in nature and in history, why not participate by engaging in the following rituals:
1. Take Time
Wherever you happen to be at the time of the eclipse, step away and take some time to observe. Make it special by allowing yourself to be fully present to this spectacular event! Put your phone down, sit, breathe, and stay a while.
Astrology says that these very special changes in the cosmos are a time of great transformation. Consider what may be changing in your life and how. What is being called upon you? Is there anything that you need to let go of? (Here's a quick meditation for inspiration.)
3. Cultivate Gratitude
An 'attitude of gratitude' is always a good idea. It simply puts things into perspective. Take a moment to acknowledge the many blessings AND challenges that you have experienced and have lead you to this place at this time. Right here, right now.
4. Get Creative
Make this an extra special time by allowing your creative juices to flow. Paint, draw, write, sing, dance. Consider how you would like to express your experience of the eclipse. Remember change is facilitated by creation; it doesn't really matter what you create, just as long as you allow for space and imagination.
And please make sure to wear protective glasses.
